Zans Bold 75

Here is my interpretation of the font Arrow, which Walter Diethelm (a Swiss type designer) designed around 1965. She was one of 15 type designs to win an award at the 1966 International Type Face Design Competition (sponsored by Visual Graphics Corporation) alongside the famous Fritz Quadrata, Vivaldi and Amelia.

This typeface is a successful attempt to transfer the Roman capitalis into modern times without placing too much emphasis on historical ornaments. The result is a wonderful typeface that is ideal for title typesetting, elegant posters, film trailers or book titles.

Typography is a service. The art of doing so is above all the art of being able to largely ignore oneself, not to push oneself between author and reader. Writing is anonymous; she has her connoisseurs, but she has no audience.

But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the actual teachings of the great explorer of the truth, the master builder of human happiness. No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful. Nor again is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain, but because occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some great pleasure.
